R. Kent Gibson was born in Norman, Oklahoma, in 1970 and has spent nearly all of his adult life in Europe.
He began writing his own memoir for his son, so that at his funeral his son would have more to say than that he bought the good yogurt. He expected the difficulty to be remembering. It was not. The difficulty was deciding what not to say, and then discovering that nobody had ever asked.
What Nobody Dares to Ask is the set of questions he wanted put to him: a guided journal for the years families talk around, with room to answer in your own hand and a date beside every answer. Why I wrote it.
